Thermal Imaging on Every Home Inspection

There are conditions in a home that may not be readily visible to the naked eye.

Not every roof can be safely walked. Tile roofs, steep slopes, multi-story homes, wet surfaces, and certain roof conditions may make physical access unsafe or risk damaging the roof covering. When appropriate, our inspectors use drone technology to document roof areas that may otherwise be difficult to access. High-resolution imagery allows us to evaluate visible roof conditions while providing our clients with additional photographic documentation.

Can a Home Inspection Find Everything?

No home inspection can identify every possible condition within a property.

A home inspection is primarily a visual evaluation of readily accessible systems and components. Inspectors generally cannot see inside walls, beneath finished flooring, behind permanently installed materials, or within other concealed areas without destructive investigation.

That is another reason experience and technology matter.

An experienced inspector knows how to recognize clues that may indicate a concealed problem and when additional evaluation by an appropriate specialist may be warranted.

A quality inspector should also be willing to clearly explain the limitations of the inspection rather than promising that every possible defect can be found.

Should You Attend Your Home Inspection?

Whenever possible, we encourage buyers to be involved in the inspection process.

You do not necessarily need to follow an inspector throughout the entire inspection, but being available toward the end gives our team an opportunity to walk you through important findings, answer questions, and help you better understand the home's major systems.

If you can't be there for the inspection, we will gladly go over the report via phone or via video call.

Home Inspections for New Construction

A brand-new home should also be professionally inspected.

Modern homes involve numerous contractors and trades working together throughout the construction process. Even with builder supervision and municipal inspections, items can be overlooked.

5 Star provides both pre-drywall inspections and final new construction inspections to help buyers identify construction defects, incomplete work, damaged materials, safety concerns, and installation issues before closing.

New does not automatically mean defect-free.

Home Inspections for Luxury Properties

Large and luxury homes present additional inspection challenges because they frequently include more square footage, multiple HVAC systems, specialty roofing, pools and spas, outdoor kitchens, advanced electrical systems, guest houses, elevators, and other complex components.

How Do You Choose a Home Inspector?
